FORMULATION OF SKIN MOISTURIZING CREAM PREPARATION FROM AMBON BANANA PEEL JUICE AND PHYSICAL QUALITY TEST OF PREPARATION

Abstract

One of the skin problems is dryness. To improve skin dryness can be done with preparations containing moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants. One of the skin moisturizing preparations that are widely circulated and favored by the public is a cream preparation. Banana ambon skin (Musa paradisiaca Var. sapientum L.) has a high content of polyphenol compounds, tannins, and vitamin C so that it has the potential as an antioxidant, and has traditionally been proven to be used for moisturizing and skin care, but has not been formulated into a dosage form. Therefore, the researchers formulated the water essence of banana ambon fruit skin into a cream preparation and tested the effectiveness of the preparation as a skin moisturizer with the aim of obtaining a natural ingredient skin moisturizer preparation that has good physical quality, is effective as a skin moisturizer and is easy to use to provide moisture and good skin care and economic value. The method used in the study was an experimental method, namely by making a cream preparation with a concentration of 10%, 20%, 30% ambon banana peel juice followed by a physical quality test of the preparation including organoleptical and stability tests, homogeneity tests, emulsion type tests, pH tests, spreadability tests, irritation tests on volunteers, skin moisturizing cream preference tests and phytochemical screening tests. The results of the physical quality test of the cream preparation, namely all formulas meet the physical quality requirements of a good cream preparation, do not irritate the skin of volunteers and are favored by volunteers and the results of phytochemical screening of fresh banana ambon fruit peel and juice show that it contains chemical compounds of alkaloids,  flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, and streoid/tritepenoid groups.
