Abstract
Medicines are substances or combinations of substances, including biological products, which are used to influence or investigate physiological systems or pathological conditions in the context of diagnosis, prevention, healing, recovery, health improvement and contraception for humans. Up to now, medical treatment has been considered by some to use synthetic drugs which are not good for the body. This encourages some of them to undergo traditional treatment which seems safer and more natural. Apart from that, medical treatment tends to require a lot of money and time, in contrast to traditional medicine which offers cheap costs and short treatment and no side effects. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive research regarding survey methods, namely data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires. This method is used to obtain data that occurred in the past or currently, about beliefs, opinions, behavioral characteristics, variable relationships and to test several hypotheses about sociological and psychological variables from samples taken from certain populations. Based on the results of research conducted in Sinaksak Village with a total of 34 respondents, 68% of whom knew about herbal medicines and 16 people, 32% of whom knew about synthetic medicines, the level of public knowledge about herbal medicines is higher than the level of public knowledge about synthetic medicines.
